Fishing on Lake Temagami

Lake Temagami - Lake Temagami is a large, deep lake (approximately 30 miles long and 15 miles wide).

It has 5 'arms' and contains 1400 islands.

The water is very clean, which makes it great for swimming in the summer and for fishing all year round.

Lake Temagami, nestled in the heartland of the Near North, with its playground of unspoiled pine forests, hundreds of secluded islands, and crystal clear water, is an enchanting region which appeals to people of all ages.
Visitors quickly learn to appreciate the picturesque scenery and the relaxed atmosphere as they explore the area.
The fishing enthusiast will find the sport he craves, using his skill to capture the mighty lake trout, smallmouth bass, pickerel (walleye), northern pike and whitefish.
Hikers can walk for miles enjoying the wonders of nature, especially the Old Growth Trails and High Rock Lookout, both very close to CANUSA VACATIONS.
Canoeists will find solitude in the miles of weaving shoreline and portage access to many remote lakes.
Lake Temagami has much to offer and those who have discovered it return year after year for a time of recreation and relaxation not easily found elsewhere.

CANUSA VACATIONS (formerly Camp CAN-USA) is a resort located on a 5.5 acre island centrally located in the hub of beautiful Lake Temagami in Ontario's Near North.
It is easily accessible to the mainland, yet is very private and peaceful. CANUSA VACATIONS offers the rental of 4 Three Buoys houseboats in addition to 7 housekeeping cottages.
In the spring, summer and fall, our guests enjoy fishing, boating, canoeing and just relaxing.
We also provide many indoor and outdoor activities. In the winter, snowmobiling and ice fishing are the main attractions.

44 foot Three Buoys Houseboats for rent - These houseboats are well maintained and fully equipped.

They can sleep up to 10 people (5 double beds).

Lake Temagami is ideal for houseboating because there are no locks and the perimeter of the lake is crown land allowing easy anchorage.

The contour of the lake with its countless little bays provides privacy and easy maneuverability.

Enjoy the winning combination of adventure, relaxation and affordable luxury on one of Canada's most beautiful lakes aboard a luxurious fully-equipped 44-foot Three Buoys houseboat. Anchor in secluded mainland coves or beside uninhabited islands, or visit isolated beaches such as Sand Point or Ferguson Bay. Your "home on the water" incorporates the latest in marine design and safety to offer you comfort, privacy and ease of operation. Relax and enjoy the breathtaking scenery from your own floating retreat. The perimeter of Lake Temagami and most of the 1400 islands are almost entirely crown land providing unlimited private anchorage locations.

Upon your arrival, your 'captain' will be given a houseboat orientation. This will consist of familiarization with the lake (assisted by the map provided) and hands-on instruction in driving the houseboat. The features of the houseboat will be explained including the operation of the depth sounders. You will also be shown how to anchor and de/anchor the houseboat. We recommend that you bring along your own fishing boat and motor or canoe to tow behind (we also provide rentals). On board are 10 adult life jackets, but if you are traveling with small children you will need to bring jackets for them.

Each houseboat can sleep up to 10 people - captain's room, penthouse room, 2 foldout sofas that make into beds, and the dinette area with custom made cushions provides the fifth double bed. You will need to bring your own bedding (but pillows and pillow cases are provided). Most people find sleeping bags work best. The kitchen has a full-sized RV-type fridge, a four-burner stove, eyelevel oven, double stainless steel sinks and lots of cupboards. The kitchen is fully-equipped with dishes, pots and pans, cutlery etc. The 3-piece bathroom with bathtub/shower, vanity sink, and flush toilet is centrally located in the houseboat. A propane gas barbecue can be found at the bow deck. A swim platform and a waterslide are at the stern deck, as well as the stairs to the upper deck.

The 'captain' of the boat can drive from the inside helm or from the upper command bridge. Also provided on the upper deck are 8 deck chairs and 2 lounge chairs.

Many upgrades have been made to our houseboats. We have added a cage around the outdrive to protect it from any damage that may occur as the result of hitting a rock in the lake. Also, depth sounders are included which assist in navigation with the added benefit of providing a 'fish finder'. We also provide a map of the lake with each rental. An environmental upgrade has been added to retain the waste water, which prevents it from being discharged into the lake.

7 Housekeeping Cottages for rent - The well-spaced cottages each have their own dock allowing lots of privacy amongst all the trees on the island.

They are fully equipped with electric heat and lights, hot and cold running water, electric stoves, fridges, microwaves, and TV/VCR's. Also included are electric coffee pots, toasters and outdoor gas barbecues.

CANUSA VACATIONS offers clean, comfortable accommodations in spacious cottages. These vacation homes are well spaced amongst mature trees providing freedom and privacy. Each cottage is located on the waterfront with its own private dock and outdoor gas barbecue for those naturally cooked meals. Inside, standard features include electric heat, electric lights, electric refrigerators and stoves, microwaves, fully equipped kitchens and living rooms or a combination kitchenette/sitting room in the smaller cottages, and 3 piece baths. All bedding is provided for double, twin and bunk beds. Each cottage, accommodating from 2 to 6 people, has its own unique character and breathtaking view in a private, secluded setting.

Near the main lodge, several indoor and outdoor activities are provided. The sun deck area offers deck furniture for your relaxation and comfort. As well, the diving board, the small sand beach and the swim platform will provide you and your family hours of swimming opportunities. Nearby, relax in our large outdoor hot tub (can accommodate approx. 10 people). You can even watch a game of horseshoes while you relax. As well, start up a game of volleyball or badminton with some friends on our outdoor court. And finally, our games room provides a billiard table, shuffleboard and darts for your enjoyment, especially on those rainy days

Fishing on Lake Temagami - Lake Temagami has lake trout, smallmouth bass, northern pike, pickerel (walleye), and whitefish.

We provide a fish cleaning hut and freezer service. We also sell bait, ice and maps.

A relaxed day of fishing, whether from a small canoe with light line or a well-equipped aluminum fishing boat is still one of man's treasured experiences. Lake Temagami offers the mighty lake trout, pickerel (walleye), smallmouth bass, northern pike, and whitefish. We offer the rental of aluminum boats, 15 HP motors, and aluminum canoes, the sale of ice, maps, gas, oil, live bait, and fishing licences; as well we provide a fish cleaning hut and freezer service.

Remote lake fishing CANUSA VACATIONS also offers fishing in remote lakes nearby. We supply the boat and motor, and you carry in some gas (supplied) and your fishing equipment.

Ice fishing and snowmobiling In the winter, ice fishing is very popular on Lake Temagami. We have 3 winterized (electric heat and hot and cold running water) housekeeping cottages for rent. We also provide the rental of 2-man ice fishing huts (propane-heated).
