Fishing and Location Information We are located in the small town of Gilford, one hour north of Toronto near beautiful Cooks Bay. The drive is scenic and the directions easy. We place our ice huts, depending on conditions and fish availability approximately two to five kilometers out on the ice. The depths of the water under the ice can vary between fifteen and forty feet of water. In the height of winter (January & February) its not unusual to see outside temperatures of -40 C in the morning so do dress warmly. Perch fishing is the main catch however it is possible to catch a lake trout or pike. Your cellular phone will be able to pick up a signal out on the lake. Hut Information We drive you out to the hut in a transport sleigh pulled by an Argo Ski do or Ford Bronco depending on ice conditions. For safety reasons we do not recommend that you drive your vehicle out on the ice. Our huts are warm and comfortable. You may bring food and even cook on the supplied stoves.

Ice fish some of our other area lakes.Fishing through the ice requires skill and knowledge as does open water angling, but anyone can ice fish successfully if he/she does the homework. Learning about the water to be fished, the equipment and its capabilities, proper clothing and safety precautions are all part of a successful, enjoyable winter fishing experience. Perhaps the best way to get started is to accompany a friend or neighbor on a half-day ice fishing outing. If you are unable to locate anyone to go with, the next best alternative is to visit a tackle shop in a popular ice fishing area. The proprietors are interested in seeing that you have a successful and enjoyable trip and will provide you with all of the necessary equipment. You may also watch for announcements of local ice fishing contests or tournaments run by local sportsmen's clubs -- ice fishermen tend to be a highly social group, eager to share tips, techniques and stories.
