The Perch Palace - bed and breakfast for fishermen on the shores of Lake Simcoe

Accommodations for ice fishermen on the shores of Lake Simcoe.

Owned by a fisherman and operated for fishermen, The Perch Palace is a lakefront bed and breakfast with accommodations and cooking facilities with ample parking for trailers. All bedding and linens are supplied and arrangements for a hearty breakfast can be made the night before.

The Perch Palace also sells live bait (minnows, wax worms, and maggots) and rents heated ice fishing huts for perch, pike trout or whitefish. Our rental rates are $35 CDN per person with transportation and bait included, children under 16 1/2 price. We also provide in and out transportation services for $5 per person each way gear included. Portable fish hut rentals are $25 CDN per day and fishfinders are $20 CDN per day

Your host, The Professor of Perch, is an avid ice fishing angler and longtime area resident. Situated in Island Grove midway between Keswick and Jackson's Point on Simcoe's southeast shore directly across from Snake Island, The Perch Palace is ideally located for catching those big jumbo perch that Simcoe is known for.

When the bite slows at Snake Island, you can try your luck at the Roche's Point / Cook Bay area - a 5 minute ATV ride away. The Palace is also 25 minutes away from the Sibbald Point / Georgina Island area - another perch hotspot. Also, if you have a successful day and have caught your daily limit of 50 perch, you can try your hand at landing whitefish and lake trout which frequent the deep waters behind Snake Island. Northern pike are also a common catch in the area.

Finally, after an enjoyable day on the ice fishing , you can relax in the hot tub while your friends clean and prepare the catch of the day. The Professor recommends frying your catch in Fish Crisp, Lake Simcoe's own coating mixture, which is available at The Palace. Make sure you purchase some for your fishing buddies back home What could be better?

If you are in the mood for a night on the town, The Perch Palace is 10 minutes from Keswick or Jackson's Pt. Both towns have numerous bars and restaurants offering everything from basic meals to fine dining. The Palace is also 1 hour from Casino Rama and 1/2 hour from adult entertainment.

For your next Simcoe hard or soft water fishing adventure, make sure you call The Professor at 1-866-BGPERCH (1-866-247-3724) toll free from anywhere in Canada or U.S.

Ontario Ice Fishing Adventures

Ice fish some of our other area lakes.

Fishing through the ice requires skill and knowledge as does open water angling, but anyone can ice fish successfully if he/she does the homework. Learning about the water to be fished, the equipment and its capabilities, proper clothing and safety precautions are all part of a successful, enjoyable winter fishing experience. Perhaps the best way to get started is to accompany a friend or neighbor on a half-day ice fishing outing. If you are unable to locate anyone to go with, the next best alternative is to visit a tackle shop in a popular ice fishing area. The proprietors are interested in seeing that you have a successful and enjoyable trip and will provide you with all of the necessary equipment. You may also watch for announcements of local ice fishing contests or tournaments run by local sportsmen's clubs -- ice fishermen tend to be a highly social group, eager to share tips, techniques and stories.
