Why do our guests continue to visit Promised Land Camp for years and decades? Maybe it is because of the fantastic fishing experience on Lake Nipissing.

Or maybe it is because of our unique location on a picturesque peninsula in the South Bay of Lake Nipissing, the peace and tranquility of our beautiful bay and our secluded and cozy cottages.

We believe it is because our Promised Land is a place where you feel welcome and at home right from the first minute. A place where you can find your getaway and recharge your energy. A place to dangle your soul and probably the place you have always been looking for.

In 1936 Promised Land was founded by the Moore family and since then has been a highly recommended cottage resort for fishermen and families.

Warm northern hospitality, superb cottages, excellent service and modern equipment are appreciated by generations of Canadian and American guests.

Superb Accommodations

Our secluded cottages are nestled among large pine and maple trees on a picturesque peninsula, overlooking Fish Bay on the South Shore of Lake Nipissing. Most of them are located right at the waterfront, with southwestern exposure; some of them have wheelchair access.

Drive right to your door! Each cottage is fully equipped with satellite TV/VCR, dishes, cooking utensils, cutlery, pots/pans, dishwashing supplies, coffee pot, toaster, microwave oven, toilet paper, bed linens, etc. And each cottage has its own barbecue, fire pit and a free supply of firewood. Just bring your own personal towels.

Great Fishing at the Promised Land!

To make a long story short: Lake Nipissing is rated as one of the top ten walleye lakes in Ontario as well as one of the best pike lakes in the province and one of the best kept secrets in Northern Ontario for bass fishing. Musky fishing is excellent and catching jumbo perch and other pan fish is great fun as well.

Lake Nipissing is a unique lake because of its shallow average depth. Thorough mixing by wind keeps the oxygen content of waters high. This in combination with extensive nutrient enrichment results in a highly productive fishery.

Promised Land Camp is located on Lake Nipissing's beautiful South Shore, the largest protected fishing area on the lake, featuring numerous islands, bays, sunken weed beds, rocky shoals, sunken islands and deep channels. Truly a fisherman's paradise.

We show you fishing hot spots, explain fishing techniques and provide hydrographic maps, fresh bait, tackle and ice. When you return to Promised Land with your catch, you will find an enclosed fish cleaning station with freezer and we will be pleased to show you how to clean Lake Nipissing's walleye, northern pike, bass or perch.

Our ample dock features slips for up to 22 boats, should you bring your own boat. Gas and oil are available at our site; fishing licences and launching facilities are nearby.

Boat & Motor Rentals

That's our motto.

We offer new 16ft Sylvan aluminum boats fully equipped with new 25 hp electric start motors, swivel seats, casting platform, fish finder, live well, electric bilge pump, running lights, life jackets and all mandatory safety equipment. In addition we offer 18ft Giesler cedar strip boats with 15 hp motors, also fully equipped with swivel seats, fish finder, life jackets and safety equipment.

Gas and oil are available at our site.

Fantastic Ice Fishing

Experience a difference at Promised Land! Superior ice huts with lots of space (8 x 12ft), propane furnace and Coleman cooking stove are waiting for you. Transportation is provided from your cozy and warm housekeeping cottage to our famous fishing spot, about 5.3 km out on Lake Nipissing. All lines and tip-ups are part of the ice fishing package, bait is available. Our outstanding service is unique and very much appreciated by our ice fishermen. We will give you a hand and advice during the main parts of your fishing day to make your fishing for walleye, pike, perch, whitefish and herring more successful. You won't be disappointed!

Fun for the whole Family

Here at Promised Land you will find one of the most beautiful beaches on the South Shore. Waters are shallow, warm and safe even for small kids. Pamper yourself in the warm summer sun, relaxing on our white sandy beach shaded by large pine and maple trees and enjoy the magnificent scenery.

For your little ones we have a children's playground, beach toys and games. Canoes, kayaks and pedal boat invite you to explore the shoreline of Fish Bay and the Fish Bay Wetland Conservation Area. Watch for ducks, Canada geese, ospreys, bald eagles and loons and with a little luck you will paddle side by side with a beaver or otter. Listen to the magic call of the loon, enjoy gorgeous sunsets and have unforgettable evenings by the campfire, watching sparkling stars and northern lights.

The laid back atmosphere of Promised Land Camp allows you to relax on acres of naturally landscaped grounds, meadows and woodland. Slow your pace and breathe in the fresh air.

Canoe Expedition

Enjoy a guided canoe trip on the South River. Evening with a campfire, guitar music and marshmallows.

Terms & Conditions

Reservation/Deposit: Reservation for cottages and boats is required. To make a reservation, call toll free at 1-888-647-7742 or 705-724-1648 or email us: info@promisedlandcamp.net. We require a deposit of $ 300.00 per cottage per week or weekend. You do not have a reservation unless your deposit is received and confirmed by us in writing.

Cancellations: A $ 50.00 cancellation charge applies to all cancellations. The balance of your deposit will be refunded, provided a written notice of cancellation for any part of your reservation is received 60 days before the reservation was to begin and the vacancy created by your cancellation has been re-rented. You are welcome to send someone else in your place.

No Shows: Guests not showing up at the pre-arranged time and date without giving notice by phone or mail constitute “no shows” and will be held liable for 100 % of the total value of their reservation as well as guests canceling within 7 days prior arrival date

Payment: Please be prepared to settle your account for accommodation and boat rentals on arrival in traveller’s cheques, cash, Interac, VISA or MasterCard.

Refunds: No refund for late arrivals or early departures.

Substitutions: We reserve the right to substitute accommodation and/or equipment should the need arise due to circumstances beyond our control.

Check-in / Check-out: Weekly check-in time is 3:00 p.m. Weekly check-out time is 9:00 a.m. Daily check-in and check-out times by prior arrangement.

Maximum occupancy:
The maximum occupancy per cottage is:
2 bedroom cottage – 6 persons
3 bedroom cottage – 8 persons
4 bedroom cottage – 10 persons
Children included.

Visitors: Please advise your visitors to register at the reception each time they visit. No visitors after 10:00 p.m. We reserve the right to limit the number of visitors as well as the frequency of visitations.

Liability: Promised Land Camp and its owner will not be held liable for any damages, injuries or losses incurred by our guests while on our premises or while operating our boats and motors. Guests are responsible for the action and safety of their children and visitors.

Damages: All damages to Promised Land Camp property and/or malfunctioning equipment must be reported immediately. Guests are fully responsible for all damages and losses to boats, motors and other equipment, however caused.

Miscellaneous: Please no pets of any kind. No firearms, fireworks and seadoos.

Facilities: Facilities offered at Promised Land Camp are for the exclusive use of our registered guests and used solely at their own risk.
